Notice of Election (NOE)

It’s crucial to remember that the Notice of Election (NOE) must be filed with Medicare within five days from the patient’s hospice election date. Submission avenues include the Direct Data Entry (DDE) system, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), or paper format, where applicable. 

Hospice selection is a significant decision; thus, beneficiaries or their authorized representatives must actively initiate the hospice benefit. The hospice will retain all election statements aligned with the Common Working File (CWF).
